Small Groups at FPC

Belong. Heal. Grow.

"A meal together is one of the most intimate and sacred human events. Around the table we become vulnerable, filling one another's plates and cups and encouraging one another to eat and drink. Much more happens at a meal than satisfying hunger and quenching thirst. Around the table we become family, friends, community, yes, a body."

-Henri Nouwen

When Jesus encounters people at tables, they become places of transformation. Strangers belong, outcasts are healed, and all grow in God's love together. Our small groups meet around tables in homes for a simple time of fellowship and formation: we share a meal, pray, read scripture, and talk together. We hope that small groups can be places where we belong to God and one another, heal from the noise and wounds of our lives, and grow in our faith as a community. Groups meet different nights of the week and in different homes. Come as you are! In Christ, we are all given a place at the table and in each other's lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will these groups start, and how long will they last?

Small groups will begin in September 2025. The groups will meet during the school year, and each group will discuss when to take breaks and holidays. You are welcome to join and leave a group at any point you need to, based on your schedule.

How should I choose a group?

Some people like to choose their group based on location, night of the week, time, or childcare.

Are groups divided by age?

Groups are intergenerational and are not divided by age.

What books will we be reading?

The focus of small groups is to eat together, read scripture together, pray together, and get to know one another. At some point, your group may choose to read a book together, but groups aren't required to do a book study. If you are interested in a book or Bible study, we have several opportunities for those!

Are my children welcome to come?

Absolutely! We currently have one group that offers childcare on Monday nights.

What if I am interested but can't commit to a certain day yet?

We would love to hear from you. Please fill out the form and indicate on the last question that you are interested but can't commit yet. Or, if you would like to participate but none of the days and times work for you, please let us know!
