Music at First Presbyterian Church

Agape Choir

First and Second Grade

Wednesday - 6:30 pm  Children's Ministry Area  Music Room

The Agape Choir is made up of our first and second grade children.  This group is led by Brownwen Ashburn.  This group provides music for our 9:00 and 11:00 am worship services, and participates in worship approximately once every six weeks (September through May).  This group also participates in the children's musicals produced throughout the church year.

Celebration     Ringers

Children - Adult

Monday - 7:00 pm  Handbell Rehearsal Room

 The Celebration Ringers is a three-octave handbell choir ringing a variety of music styles, difficulties, and techniques.  This group is a multi-generational group, and our rehearsals are held in the handbell room (basement area next to the Director of Student Ministries office).  This choir provides music leadership at the 11:00 am traditional worship service.  This group participates in worship approximately once a month (September through July).  Music reading skills are helpful for participants of this group.  We are also always looking for substitute ringers for this group.  Contact our director, Larry Dodd for more information about this group.

Chancel Choir

Youth - Adult

Wednesday - 7:30 pm  Choir Rehearsal Room

The Chancel Choir provides weekly music leadership for our 11:00 am Traditional Worship Service.  This group, under the direction of Larry Dodd is comprised of youth through adult age participants.  This group sings a variety of musical styles from the classics to more contemporary pieces.  This group also provides special seasonal works throughout the liturgical year.  Auditions and music reading skills are not necessary to participate in this group.

Cherub Choir

Preschool - Kindergarten

Wednesday - 6:30 pm  Children's Ministry Area  Factory Space

 The cherub choir is made up of our preschool through kindergarten age children.  This group participates in the 9:00 am and 11:00 am worship services approximately three to four times a year (September - May).  This group is under the leadership of Bronwen Ashburn, our Director of Children's Ministries.  This group also participates in the children's musicals produced throughout the church year.
 

Contemporary    Praise Team

Youth - Adult

Sunday - 8:00 am  Worship Center

 The contemporary praise team provides weekly music leadership for our 9:00 am Contemporary Worship Service.  This group is under the leadership of Lanny Bodkins.  The contemporary praise team brings to our worship experience the best of contemporary music.  Contact Lanny to become a part of this exciting ministry of our church.
 

Drama Team

Student - Adult

Thursday - 7:00 pm  Choir Rehearsal Room

As William Shakespeare said, "All the World's a Stage," and that's true here at FPCJC.  This multi-generational group's offerings range from religious skits that assist us in worship to appearances in the community and dinner theaters at the church.  This group meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Choir Rehearsal Room.
