Mere Christianity,
by:  C. S. Lewis

Teacher:  Dr. Arnold B. Lovell, Interim Pastor
Meeting Time:  Immediately Following the
                           9:00 am Worship Service
Where:  In the Worship Center (Second Floor)

Join us for the next several months as we explore the wonderful writing of C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity, and its implications for the life we live today as Christians.

Having served as a pastor for over 25 years, and as a seminary professor for a decade, Dr. Lovell is well prepared and ready to work with us in reflecting upon this important work of theological scholarship by Lewis.  Lewis himself explains the book in this manner, as seen in the Preface.

There is no mystery about my own position.  I am a very ordinary laymen of the Church of England, not especially 'high', nor especially 'low', nor wspecially anything else.  But, in this book I am not trying to convert anyone to my own position.  Ever since I became a Christian I have thought that the best, perhaps the only, service I could do for my unbelieving neighbours was to explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.

For I am not writing to expand something I could call 'my religion', but to expound 'mere' Christianity, which is what it is and what it was long before I was born and whether I like it or not.

PLEASE NOTE, FOR THESE POINTS ARE
VERY IMPORTANT!

  • First, this is a topical, reflective, discussion class, with Dr. Lovell leading the class and us reading along.  The only preparation needed - SHOW UP!  Any and all are welcome!

  • Second, There is no such thing as a stupid question, or doubt, or is there a need to be a Biblical or theological scholar to participate!  There are no entrance requirements, so just get the book and come join us!
